Here’s an example of a really big cat enclosure — and I’m talking HUGE! Most people would not have the luxury of having space for something like this, but if you do, it’s definitely the way to go.
Anyone who runs a cat shelter or a cat rescue will find some good ideas in this little clip. Out here on the farm, we have enough room. And heaven knows we have enough cats! But it would be hard to justify the expense of a large project like that. However, maybe it could be tackled in stages.
When a cat lives outdoors, the world is his gym. But an inside cat needs to have furniture, just as people do. Today we’re talking about the cat gym. (This link shows a nice example.)
Cats need specialized furniture for different needs. They need their bed for sleeping, their post for scratching, their “cave” for security, their litter box for … well, you get the picture. One very important piece of equipment for your cat is a “cat gym”. This is pretty much the same as what’s often called a “cat tree”. In fact, frequently the whole shebang — bed, scratching posts, cave, climbing and exercise area — are all incorporated into one piece of furniture. However, it is useful to consider each function separately.
Your kitty needs his Cat Gym
The cat gym is the portion of your cat’s furniture where he gets his exercise. It should encourage him to climb, jump, chase, swat, scratch and whatever cats like to do. Exercise is necessary for cats (as it is for people) to keep them from getting too fat, to keep them interested, and –basically — to keep them feeling young and happy. Cats can get depressed (again, just as people can) and exercise is the number one way to overcome that.
One more reason to make sure your cat has his very own cat gym to play on is the maintenance of Read the rest of this entry
If you're wondering where to put that darned litter box, here's your solution. This is such a nice piece of furniture, you won't mind having it just about anywhere in the house.
This cat condo is a basic and practical item which is a good place to start for a new cat owner. You might find that, even after you buy the fancy artistic cat furniture, your cat still comes back to this one. It’s a tried and true design.
This is really beautiful furniture. It might create a problem if you tend to get jealous when your cat has better furniture than you do, but if you can handle that, then it'll be great. Your cat will feel like a princess lounging on this little trundle bed. And if your cat doesn't have an ergonomic scratcher … well, shame on you!
Here’s another “putting-it-together” video. This one doesn’t have the cuteness factor of the last one, but I found it informative. You can see clearly how sturdy this product is. Cats despise anything rickety or unsteady … unless it’s a pile of dishes you’ve left on the table, in which case they are honor-bound to try to walk across it.
But anyway, back to this nice-looking cat condo — the guy says they test them by dropping a bowling ball on them. Good test. It’s a good approximation of my Rosie jumping on my head every morning to wake me up. (She resembles a bowling ball in more ways than one!)
The cat condos, or “cat gyms” you might call them, are modular. So you can add to it later. That’s a nice feature. And it would fit right into a corner, where it wouldn’t take up that much room. Nice!

Whenever you order something (like a cat tree), it’s important to know what you’re getting into. Do you need a degree in Rocket Science to put the thing together? Will it sit in the box indefinitely because you’re just too intimidated by all the little pieces and the instructions consisting of indecipherable line drawings and a couple of words in Chinese?
Well, this video will put your mind at ease regarding the “Spoil My Kitty” cat tree, anyway. Looks pretty simple. And the kitties supervising the project seem to approve as well. (One of the cuter instruction videos I’ve seen!)

The recording quality of this clip is not the best, but the two beautiful kittens make up for it. This cat tree is large enough and sturdy enough that they’ll still have fun playing on it when they’re full-grown. There are a couple of lounging shelves, several play features, a nice tunnel — everything a cat could want.
If, when you think of “cat enclosure”, you think of a cage where your cat would feel abused and miserable, then think again! These enclosures are more like playgrounds. My Lulu, who’s afraid to go outdoors, would love this.
Nothing like a happy cat. An outdoor run provided the best of both worlds. The Cat’s Den allows the safety of the indoors with the benefits of the outdoors. If only they can tell us how happy they are.
